Welcome to Sante Fe Trail Elementary Bands
Information from SMN Bands! Section Leader Tryouts, Instrument Rental Night and Rehearsal, and Graduation Band!!
Good afternoon, students and families of SMN Bands!
Our students have so much to be proud of! It was a treat to experience the concert and banquet back-to-back, tiring perhaps, however celebrating the passion for music that our students carry is always at the top of my priority list! Congratulations to all students, seniors, and parents for a job well done! Now on to prepping for next year!
Jazz Auditions
Students who are interested in auditioning for a jazz ensemble, please reach out to me as necessary. Your audition will include the following:
1. A performance portion containing two contrasting styles (Latin/Swing/Funk/Blues) any combination of those listed. (Yes your current Jazz music is fair game)
2. An Interview portion that will allow us to understand your ambitions more thoroughly.
Section Leader Process – 5/16 After School – 3 pm
We are so fortunate to have so many students involved in the leadership team at SMN! To be as accommodating as possible to all high school students, this Friday, 5/16, we will host an afterschool meeting in the band room. Here applicants will be able to communicate their goals and intentions as leaders. Following all presentations, we will provide ballots for students to cast their vote. Section Leader Assignments will be posted over the weekend in the “Weekly Email”!
5/16 Instrument Rental Night 5 pm/Indoor Rehearsal – 6 :00 pm – 7:00 pm
At 5 pm we will begin checking out marching band instruments to students for their summer preparation! All students (middle and high school) that play tenor sax, french horn, baritone, and tuba students will need to check out an instrument for the upcoming marching season. Please reach out if you or your student has any questions!
At 6 pm we will begin passing out warm-ups, tuning sequences, stand tunes, and even the Show Music!!! We will go over all of it with them to explain and promote an efficient summer of practicing!
Graduation Band – 5/21 – 6 pm
We have already begun preparation on Imaginarium by Randall Standridge and our students sound phenomenal! We will continue working on that as well as Pomp and Circumstance to make sure our seniors have a positive musical experience at graduation! We’re so proud of you seniors! It has been shared with me that in year’s past this has been required for all students that are not graduating. I would like to keep this tradition, so if you cannot make this performance, please reach out to me so we can have an intentional conversation.
